SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES + THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Our commitment to protecting the environment and offering product that enhances wellbeing is evident on three fronts: environmentally conscious production practices, thoughtful material sourcing and design strategies, and energy efficient luminaire design.

PRODUCTION

On our 13-acre San Antonio campus, 4% of energy needs are met by Windtricity renewable wind power, another 4% of energy needs are met by PV solar cells on the roof, and all products are packaged in boxes made from post-consumer recycled content. We prioritize limiting waste and energy output in our production process, as these practices contribute to the environmental impact of our products.

    RECYCLING
  • Percentage of incoming raw metals recycled: Stainless Steel 60%, Steel 70%, Aluminum 80%.
  •
  • Automated paint line installed in 2022 has reduced paint waste water by 90% over previous paint line.
  •
  • 98% of metals that go into our products are recycled or sent out to be made into new raw materials.
  •
  • All waste liquids sent out to recovery are 95%+ captured (oils, metal working fluid, mop water).
  •
  • Current cardboard packaging materials are made from 60-100% post-consumer recycled content.

    FACTORY POWER
  • PEV installation on the San Antonio factory roof operational since 2015 and provides 4% of factory's overall energy needs.
  •
  • 4% of energy comes from Windtricity, our local wind power provider.
  •
  • 52% of capacity on campus from high efficiency VRF systems with SEER ratings of 18-24.

    SUPPLY CHAIN
  • Our Supply Chain strategy is focused on nearshoring as many components and processes as possible.
  •
  • The majority of our inbound and outbound shipments are via freight rather than air, reducing carbon emissions.
  •
  • 60% of product families are compliant to the latest BAA and BABAA standards.

PERFORMANCE

Our luminaires use advanced LEDs which significantly reduce wattage while delivering high lumen output for tens of thousands of hours. Lucifer products are also made of materials that contain post-consumer recycled content, comply with JA8-2019 standards, and most have a Declare Label in accordance with Living Building Challenge (LBC).

Declare is a materials initiative for building products that are designed to shape a greener, healthier environment for construction workers, business emploees, and customers. The Declare label includes a full list of materials and expands the transparency of the building market. We offer an array of LBC Red List Approved products, ranging from Fraxion to Monopoint.
